Recent developments in South African environmental Law
Recent developments within the environmental law space have certain implications for businesses operating in South Africa. Bowman’s Public Law and Regulatory Practice hosted a three-part webinar series in October 2020 to discuss these significant changes with the panel comprising members of its Public Law and Regulatory Practice – Claire Tucker, Michael Vermaak, Wandisile Mandlana and Carmen Bradfield.
The first session focused on the recent environmental judgments, namely the sale of water rights; current and future waste management practices; and private criminal prosecutions following the reflection of unlawful activities in terms of section 24G of the National Environmental Management Act 107 of 1998.
The second webinar focused on developments in climate change regulation in South Africa.
The third session focused on recent developments relating to extended producer responsibility and their implications.
