Understanding Glassine Liner Label Backing Paper

What is Glassine Liner Label Backing Paper? Glassine liner label backing paper is a coated paper that provides a smooth, glossy finish, making it resistant to grease and moisture. Typically used as the backing for self-adhesive labels, glassine liners facilitate easy peeling and application. They are usually available in colors such as white, yellow, and light blue.

Why is Glassine Liner Difficult to Recycle?

  1. Contamination: High contamination rates can compromise recycling efforts; unsuitable materials must not exceed 1%.
  2. Specialized Processing: The silicone coating on glassine liners requires specific processing techniques that not all recycling facilities can handle.
  3. Limited Recycling Infrastructure: Many facilities lack the capability to process glassine liners, leading to increased waste.
  4. Market Demand: Limited market demand for recycled glassine paper can discourage investment in necessary processing technology.

Conditions for Collection & Recycling

To ensure a smooth recycling process, please adhere to the following conditions:

  • Baling Requirements: Bales must be approximately 100kg.
  • Liner Specifications: Only glassine liners are accepted, which include white, yellow, or light blue silicone release liners without self-adhesive labels.
  • Contamination Rate: The maximum contamination rate allowed is 1%.
